Major Project: Character UVs - Lunar

Major Project: Character UVs - Stevie

I went back in and separated the eye onto its own UV as I'll need to have a different specular setting on that to make it shiny, whereas his body is more matte.

To create my UVs I initially tried planar mapping, after being greeted with this mess for the auto UVs for each of my animals, however eventually ended up just manually slicing the UVs for each where I thought would be best fit for each character, taking into consideration colouration patterns as well as what part of the animal will be on show.

This image shows my initial sections, before sorting the head and going back into the legs later on.

I chose to stack the eyes, which were both individually planar mapped to ensure projected the correct way, and spines as these will be all the same, so giving me extra texturing space for the rest of the body.

I ended up going back over my UV sets after completing them all first and adjusting the edge positions on the legs, where before I had two parts, a top and bottom, I changed to a full arm wrap with top of the feet, and hid the joins in the palms/foot base, and having that separate, to hide better any skin texture joins.
